The Marciliana
The Marciliana event
Marciliana is an event which takes its name from a Venetian merchant ship that sailed the Adriatic in the Middle Ages. The event is characterized by a palio and a festival with shows and gastronomic specialities. It is an amazing event that is also an evocative historical re-enactment.
The historic palio of Chioggia
At the Palio della Marciliana, five districts compete in the shooting of large crossbows: the competing districts of Montalbano, Sant'Andrea, San Giacomo, San Martino and San Michele Arcangelo represent the 4th century clodiense community. This event is the result of the work of local committees which prepare themselves to put on a special annual show for the increasing number of visitors.
